Meet Francisco, our Team Leader at Evergreen House

Francisco has been part of the Mentaur team for over 5 years now, with experience working in 3 of our homes. He relocated from Portugal to the UK to work for Mentaur; we spoke with Francisco to find out more about his experiences.
Before Mentaur, what type of industry did you work in?
I had just finished my studies when I first heard about the opportunities available at Mentaur; I left university with a degree in Psychology and wanted to find a role in which I could utilise what I’d learnt.
How did you hear about the opportunities available at Mentaur?
The role was advertised in a Portuguese newspaper; the role seemed to offer an exciting new challenge, so I sent my CV.
How did you find relocating to the UK?
Tough at first, but the team at Mentaur were a great support. I’d had some trouble securing accommodation that would be ready for my arrival to the UK, so Mentaur stepped in, helping me to find a hotel room temporarily until my accommodation was ready. The team were also on hand to support me through the initial paperwork, which was a huge help!
What would you say to people considering a role at Mentaur?
Take a chance. I’d say people have nothing to lose by taking on a new role at Mentaur, but plenty to gain. I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many new people, and working with the care industry has been a hugely rewarding experience. Working in the UK has been great too; initially it was a big change, but it didn’t take long at all for me to feel completely at home!
